The Wynn Millions Poker Series returned for the third consecutive year with a $3,500 buy-in Championship Event and $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. It was Michael Rossitto who took it down for $604,637, after beating a field of 1,314 players.
But in today’s story we’ll focus on one of the 23 side events, the $1,100 NLHE $500k GTD tournament that saw 885 entries. At the end it was California’s Nikhil Gera who was the last man standing, earning himself a Wynn trophy and $131,665 prize money. This was his fourth best career result and a first six-figure score since 2018.
And it’s true like they say that apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as on the same night his mother, Manju Gera shipped a tournament as well! She played a $100k GTD Mystery Bounty event at Garden Casino in Los Angeles and took it down for more than $52,000, her best result to date.
Manju is primarily a mixed game specialist, but her son Nikhil has been trying to coach her in No Limit Hold’em as well. “These young kids with backpacks intimidate me,” Manju laughed. “But I’m trying to learn the game, so this was a really good experience.”
Nikhil now has close to a $1.9 million in career tournament winnings, while his mother has surpassed a $200,000 mark with this win. Interesting enough, they are both also a WSOP Circuit Ring holders.
