Jessica Vierling Shines in WSOP Circuit Commerce Main Event

The ladies have been dominating the WSOP Circuit at Commerce Casino, racking up four coveted WSOP rings. In the early part of LA’s series, women won three of the first seven events, setting a new World Series record.

Christina Gollins ‘Baby Shark’ kicked off the series with a victory in the opening event, taking home $105,444. Sally Stephens claimed her first ring in the Seniors event, earning $20,782, and Kathy Chang secured her ring in the H.O.R.S.E. event for $13,286. However, the Main Event was yet to come, and it was a big one, shattering the guarantee with 1,467 entries, a $2,222,505 prize pool, and $328,273 reserved for the first-place winner.

In the end, it was Jessica Vierling who triumphed in the massive WSOPC event, beating Christian Roberts in heads-up for the title. This victory marks her second career ring, with her first coming in 2022 during the WSOP Circuit Tulsa, where she pocketed $13,641.

Vierling seemed to have a kind of premonition about this win, having noted the earlier success of her fellow female players on Twitter.

This win also marks the best career score for the German poker pro living in Vegas, pushing her live tournament earnings over the $1,000,000 mark. “It’s amazing. I’ve been in a downswing for the last five months,” said Vierling after the win. “I didn’t expect to win the ring, but then I started the run with aces and kings, and then I thought, ‘maybe.’”

2024 WSOP Circuit Commerce Main Event Final Table Recap

Final Table

Fifteen players returned for the third day of the WSOP Circuit Commerce Main Event, and within an hour of play, six were eliminated, forming the final table. Christian Roberts emerged as the big chip leader with over 100 big blinds, followed by Amit Shah with 55 big blinds.

The first player to exit the final table was Johnny Bromberg, who ran into Vierling’s pocket queens. Vierling continued her dominance by eliminating Jared Griener, one of the most experienced players at the table and a ring holder himself. Griener’s ace-king was no match for her pocket kings. Edward Pak, who started the final day as a chip leader, was another notable early exit, finishing in seventh place.

Vierling was already at the top of the leaderboard at this point, but over an hour was needed for the next elimination. Cooper Feltham pushed all-in with jack-nine from the small blind, trying to steal the blinds from Amit Shah. Shah quickly called with suited ace-seven, but a jack on the flop and nine on the river left Shah drawing dead.

Cooper Feltham

Stephen Sharrah pushed his small stack with king-three from an early position. James Pilpa called the rest with ace-deuce from the big blind. An ace on the flop sealed the deal, and Sharrah was eliminated in fifth.

Despite the newfound riches, Pilpa was the next to go in a big, cooler hand. Vierling opened the pot with A4 and Pilpa three-bet with QQ. The flop came 3AQ, and Vierling called Pilpa’s bet. The turn was 6, and both checked. The river brought a case 8, giving Vierling a flush. She went all-in, and Pilpa snap-called, only to see the bad news.

If two-thirds of the chips in play weren’t already enough for Vierling, she got her pocket aces in against Feltham’s ace-jack, eliminating him in third place.

Christian Roberts

Vierling started the heads-up with a commanding 6:1 chip lead over Christian Roberts. Although Roberts managed to win the first big pot, his luck quickly ran out. A few hands later, he picked the wrong spot to bluff with jack-high against Vierling’s trips, sealing his fate and securing the victory for Vierling.
