PPT staff have barely had time to break down the tables from PPT #4 at Pure Casino Yellowhead and it’s almost time for the penultimate series of the 2024 season. Series #5 is across town at Pure Casino Edmonton and is a shortened schedule from the full series with just one week of poker action and 11 events.
The first PPT branded action for Series #5 kicks off at 1 pm Sunday, Oct 13 with a 1 in 10 satellite game for $T equivalent to entry in all open events for the series. Buy-in for the game is $430 ($390 + $40) and players start with 25k in chips for 30-minute levels.
There is more satellite action on Oct 14 with main series action kicking off on Oct 15 with the Seniors First at noon, an open NLH game starting at 4 pm, and a satellite game at 7 pm. That kicks off seven days of PPT action that includes the ever-popular 6-Max and PLO Big Bounty games as well as the two-flight Main Event and the $2k “Series Saver” High Roller to finish it out.

First Break of the Day
Level: 5 (300/500/500) Entries: 33/60 Prizes: $17,100 The side game is on it’s first break of the day with 60 entries on the board. There are still a bit more than 2 hours to get into this one so those numbers will go up before it all closes.

55 Unofficial Entries
Level: 9 (600/1,200/1,200) Entries: 20/55 Prizes: $31,350 ($20,350 prizes, $11,000 bounties) Entries are now closed for the PLO Bounty game and the unofficial total was 55 entries. There are 20 players still in action with Madde Sharma and Deven Lane entering on the dinner break for starting stacks.
It looks like Brett Worton is the chip leader at the moment with about 250k in front of him, but Tony Comely and Ryan Smith are also stacking big with 140k and 150k respectively.

Panas Flushes Out Wilson
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 42/53 Prizes: $15,105 There was some early action on one of the tables that saw Ross Wilson hit the rail. I missed most of the action, but when I arrived at the table, Tyler Panas was collecting Wilson’s chips with [invalid notations]Ts9s[/pcn[ in front of him and a board containing [invalid notations]8sJsQs[/pcn[ for the queen-high straight flush.
Meanwhile, across the room Ron Lothian is stacking big with about 80k in front of him. A chunk of those chips came from a hand where he flopped open-ended with king-ten, then turned his straight and got paid with a river shove for a big double.

Level: 3 (200/300/300) Entries: 42/50 Prizes: $14,250 They are nearing $15k in prizes in the side event today with 50 players on the board as Level 3 ticks down. There are still 42 players in the battle for prizes and about 3 hours left to enter the game.

$30k in Prizes on Dinner
Level: 8 (500/1,000/1,000) Entries: 18/53 Prizes: $30,210 ($19,610 prizes, $10,600 bounties) The PLO Bounty players are on their dinner break now, and when they return for Level 9 in about 25 minutes entries will be closed for this event. They are up to 53 entries with 18 still alive for combined prizes of a bit more than $30k.
If these numbers hold, that should mean 6 players getting a piece of $19,610 in prizes later in the night, with $10,600 in bounties handed out throughout the game as well.
