PPT staff have barely had time to break down the tables from PPT #4 at Pure Casino Yellowhead and it’s almost time for the penultimate series of the 2024 season. Series #5 is across town at Pure Casino Edmonton and is a shortened schedule from the full series with just one week of poker action and 11 events.
The first PPT branded action for Series #5 kicks off at 1 pm Sunday, Oct 13 with a 1 in 10 satellite game for $T equivalent to entry in all open events for the series. Buy-in for the game is $430 ($390 + $40) and players start with 25k in chips for 30-minute levels.
There is more satellite action on Oct 14 with main series action kicking off on Oct 15 with the Seniors First at noon, an open NLH game starting at 4 pm, and a satellite game at 7 pm. That kicks off seven days of PPT action that includes the ever-popular 6-Max and PLO Big Bounty games as well as the two-flight Main Event and the $2k “Series Saver” High Roller to finish it out.

Tag Team Fun for Saturday
Event: Event #9: $230 Tag Team ($200 + $30) Date: Oct 19, 6 pm Blinds: 20 Min Starting Stack: 20,000 Late Entry: 8 Levels (~8:40 pm) The Tag Team game is on the side for Saturday night, and as always, the expectation is for a night of partying with a bit of incidental poker thrown in on the side. The game kicks off at 6 pm tonight with 20-minute blinds and a 20k starting stack.
Entries are open for 8 levels with the final chance to enter coming about 8:40 pm. Teams consist of two players and players will switch at the start of each new layer.
However, all players also get 5 switch tickets to use throughout the game, and those tickets can be used to either make an early swap with your own partner or force another team at your table to switch. Switch tickets can only be played between hands – players cannot switch mid-hand.
Be prepared for a loud and raucous event for this one – anyone looking for a quiet, sober, GTO-focused game should probably look elsewhere tonight. On the other hand, if you are looking to have a few drinks, have some fun, and play a bit of poker, find a partner and head on down to Pure Casino Edmonton for 6 pm (note that there are almost always singles looking for partners near the start of the game as well, so come on down even if you don’t have a partner, and there’s a good chance you’ll find one).

NLH Turbo on the Side for Friday
Event: Event #8: $200 Turbo ($180 + $20) Date: Oct 18, 7 pm Blinds: 15 Min Starting Stack: 15,000 Late Entry: 8 Levels (~9:15 pm) Friday’s side event will be a full turbo game with 15 minute blinds and a 15k starting stack. Action kicks off at 7 pm with 8 levels of entry. That should put the final chance to enter at about 9:15 pm.
I’ll be watching Day 1a of the Main most closely on Friday, but I expect I’ll make it over for the end of this one once Day 1a bags up at the end of their night.
