LIVE Reporting: Pure Poker Tour Series #5

PPT staff have barely had time to break down the tables from PPT #4 at Pure Casino Yellowhead and it’s almost time for the penultimate series of the 2024 season. Series #5 is across town at Pure Casino Edmonton and is a shortened schedule from the full series with just one week of poker action and 11 events.

The first PPT branded action for Series #5 kicks off at 1 pm Sunday, Oct 13 with a 1 in 10 satellite game for $T equivalent to entry in all open events for the series. Buy-in for the game is $430 ($390 + $40) and players start with 25k in chips for 30-minute levels.

There is more satellite action on Oct 14 with main series action kicking off on Oct 15 with the Seniors First at noon, an open NLH game starting at 4 pm, and a satellite game at 7 pm. That kicks off seven days of PPT action that includes the ever-popular 6-Max and PLO Big Bounty games as well as the two-flight Main Event and the $2k “Series Saver” High Roller to finish it out.

  • Graham Races to Double; Dalphond Triples

    Level:26 (30,000/60,000/60,000)
    Entries:4/226
    Prizes:$212,553

Kim Graham just found a double when he shoved all in under the gun and big blind Johnny Dalphond called him off with a bit more. It was a race between KQ for Graham and red pocket nines for Dalphond.

It was a classic race, but not quite a classic runout as Graham ended up with a spade flush on an all-spade board even after Dalphond flopped a set of nines.

Shortly after, Dalphond got his short stack of 570k in three ways with pocket queens, and ran into ace-eight for Graham, and ace-king for Ed Zurawell. The queens held on a low board and Dalphond is back in the game.

  • The Deal is Done

    Level:26 (30,000/60,000/60,000)

The final four player smoothed out the money a bit with an ICM deal. Kevin Lee was the chip leader at the end of the night last night, so he is guaranteed $24,768. Ed Zurawell is assured at least $21,799, Johnny Dalphond will make $20,910, while Kim Graham is guaranteed $20k exactly. That leaves $11,038 on the table, along with the trophy and the title, to fight for.

Day 3 of the Main Event is about to start, but the final four players are discussing an ICM chop (with some money and the trophy left to play for). I’ll update the numbers once I get the details.

  • Resul Dauti Wins Little Bounty

I didn’t have any chance to watch this one at all on Sunday, and I didn’t get any photos of the final table either. but Resul Dauti was the player who ended up with all the chips. He defeated Matt Hanson in heads up play with Jason Laverman coming third. Full prizes are below, and posted under the payouts tab.

Johnny Dalphind just doubled through Kim Graham when his king-three turned two pair against the king-ten for Graham after both players flopped the king. After the hand, Ed Zurawell said he folded pocket deuces preflop, and he would have flopped a set to make it heads up.
