PPT staff have barely had time to break down the tables from PPT #4 at Pure Casino Yellowhead and it’s almost time for the penultimate series of the 2024 season. Series #5 is across town at Pure Casino Edmonton and is a shortened schedule from the full series with just one week of poker action and 11 events.
The first PPT branded action for Series #5 kicks off at 1 pm Sunday, Oct 13 with a 1 in 10 satellite game for $T equivalent to entry in all open events for the series. Buy-in for the game is $430 ($390 + $40) and players start with 25k in chips for 30-minute levels.
There is more satellite action on Oct 14 with main series action kicking off on Oct 15 with the Seniors First at noon, an open NLH game starting at 4 pm, and a satellite game at 7 pm. That kicks off seven days of PPT action that includes the ever-popular 6-Max and PLO Big Bounty games as well as the two-flight Main Event and the $2k “Series Saver” High Roller to finish it out.

-
Final Level of Entry
Level: 8 (500/1,000/1,000) Entries: 46/74 Prizes: $21,090 There are about 25 minutes to play in Level 8 and this will be the final level of entry. Entries will remain open through the dinner break following this level with the desk shutting down at about 5 pm when Level 9 begins.
-
Nearly $20k in Prizes
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 46/70 Prizes: $19,950 They are one entry shy of $20k in prizes now with 70 entries on the board and 46 players still in the action. Level 7 has just under 10 minutes to left to play, and Level 8 will be the final level of poker to get a rebuy in.
-
About 2 Hours Left to Enter
Level: 6 (300/600/600) Entries: 49/66 Prizes: $18,810 There are just under 10 minutes to play in Level 6 with the field now at 66 entries for prizes of nearly $19k. There are now just over two hours left to enter this game.
-
More than $17.5k
Level: 6 (300/600/600) Entries: 49/62 Prizes: $17,670 The prizes are now up to $17,670 with 62 entries on the board to start Level 6. 49 players remain at the felt including Rob Lothian, who grabbed a double during Level 5.
-
Turbo Side Event Set to Go
Level: 1 (100/100/100) Entries: 18/18 Prizes: $3,420 The side event is just getting set to start the clock with 18 players in their seats. That puts the prizes at just under $3,500 to start, but there’s a bit of a line at the entry desk so the numbers will go up fairly quickly I think.
-
Four More Levels of Entry
Level: 5 (300/500/500) Entries: 49/56 Prizes: $15,960 There are 56 entries on the board as the players return for the start of Level 5. Entries will remain open through Level 8 and will close at the end of the dinner break following that level.
The prizes are now almost $16k, so it looks likely that we’ll see prizes of more than $20k before the entry desk shutters.
-
Break Time with 55 Entries
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 48/55 Prizes: $15,675 The Seniors are just about to head out for their first break of the day as Level 4 ticks down to the end. -
Final Level before First Break
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 42/47 Prizes: $13,395 With no new entries in Level 3, they are going into the final level of play before the first break of the day with 47 entries and 42 players still alive. When they return from the break there will be four more levels of open registration, followed by a 45-minute dinner break with entries closing when they sit down for Level 9 after dinner.
-
Nearly 50 Entries for Level 3
Level: 3 (200/300/300) Entries: 45/47 Prizes: $13,395 The action is into Level 3 now with 47 entries on the board and 45 players still at the felt. Among the newer entries I spotted on my last trip around the room were Paul “Squirrel Attack” Meyer, Bernard Buyar, Bijon Emmanuel, Pam MacNaughton, Tony Nguyen, Ron Lauzon, Ed Zurawell, Nick Malkovich, and Russ Sluchinski.
There are just under 4 hours left to enter this game with entries set to close at about 5:00 pm after the dinner break following Level 8.
