Jose Carpio Wins E2 After 5-Way Deal
The Turbo game, which started four hours later than the Seniors game, finished before it by the clock. Event #2 was done and dusted after about 8 hours of play while the Seniors will still three-ways at their final table across the room. As a result, I had very little chance to watch any action on this game.
I do know a deal was discussed with play six-handed but was rejected by Shah Mohammed, the eventual 6th place finisher. Once Mohammed was gone, the remaining players quickly agreed to chop it up with the trophy and win going to big stack Jose Carpio. One interesting note is that included in the dealing players was Grace Quijano, who took 3rd tonight. She and Carpio are a couple off the tables, and they also both survived the Survivor game in the previous series.
Full prizes are loaded under the Payouts tab, as well as pasted below. Note that the official casino payouts are the ones I am posting as I’m not 100% certain on the deal specifics. I think they chopped evenly, but I didn’t confirm that so am posting the original payout numbers.
Place Player Country Prize 1 Jose Carpio $5,354 2 Omar Ammar $3,511 3 Grace Quijano $2,340 4 Thurston Kesteris $1,672 5 Josie Brown $1,254 6 Shah Mohammed $902 7 Brent Baxter $702 8 Lars Bird $551 9 Naleen Narayan $434 2024 PPT Series #5 Event #2 Final Payouts -
Deal Time
Level: 22 (15,000/25,000/25,000) Entries: 2/75 Prizes: $21,375 Shah Mohammed was 6th place tonight and the final five players cut a deal once he busted. They’d discussed a deal 6 ways, but Mohammed wasn’t interested, leaving it open for the deal to be made. The final five chopped it evenly, and I’ll get the final payouts updated shortly from my hotel room. Josie Brown, Thurston Kesteris, Grace Quijano, Omar Ammar, and Jose Carpio were the five players involved in the deal with Carpio taking the official win.

Final Table
Level: 17 (4,000/8,000/8,000) Entries: 8/88 Prizes: $16,720 They are down to the final table now with 8 players left after Naleen Narayan hit the rail for the first payout of $434. Pictures of the final nine will be posted shortly, but I still won’t be watching this one very closely as the Seniors are still five-handed.

22 Players Remain
Level: 13 (1,500/3,000/3,000) Entries: 22/88 Prizes: $16,720 They are down to 22 remaining now with one of the recent exits being Benny Sarnelli. He shoved a short stack with pocket fours and got called by Josie Brown with ace-ten. Brown flopped her ten to take the lead and held when Sarnelli bricked the turn and river.

88 Confirmed Entries
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 57/88 Prizes: $16,720 Entries are now closed for the side event tonight with 88 entries on the board. That number is confirmed for $16,720 in prizes to be divided 9 ways at the end of the night. Full payout details are under the payouts tab but the winner will be pocketing $5,354 tonight.

Final Level of Entry
Level: 6 (300/600/600) Entries: 57/76 Prizes: $14,440 There are about 10 minutes ti play in Level 6 and this is the final level of entry for tonight’s side game. Entries will stay open through the break following this level but will be closed when they sit down for Level 7 in about 25 minutes.
-
44 Entries
Level: 3 (200/300/300) Entries: 42/44 Prizes: $8,360 Level 3 is just beginning with 44 entries on the board for the side event. That puts the prizes a bit higher than $8k right now with about 1.5 hours left to enter the game
-
$5k in Prizes to Start
Level: 1 (100/100/100 Entries: 29/29 Prizes: $5,510 The clock is now running for Event #2 with 29 players in their seats. That puts the prizes at just over $5.5k to start the game and a few of the faces I spotted taking their seats were Paul Meyer, who had no luck earlier in the Seniors game, Dale “Soupy” Campbell, Nadav Bitton, Ross Wilson, Benny Sarnelli, and Daniel O’Leary.
-
Turbo Side Event Set to Go
Level: 1 (100/100/100) Entries: 18/18 Prizes: $3,420 The side event is just getting set to start the clock with 18 players in their seats. That puts the prizes at just under $3,500 to start, but there’s a bit of a line at the entry desk so the numbers will go up fairly quickly I think.

Open NLH Runs Opening Day
Event: Event #2: $230 NLH ($200 + $30) Date: Oct 15, 4 pm Blinds: 20 Minutes Starting Stack: 20,000 Late Entry: 6 Levels (~6:15 pm) The first event of the typical Pure Poker Tour series is for players 50 years of age and older, but opening day doesn’t shut out the rest of the playing community. Starting at 4 pm, an open NLH Turbo will kick off with 20k to start and 20-minute blinds.
This is a one-day game that will finish sometime late Tuesday (or more likely, early Wednesday lol) and players have six levels to get into the game or rebuy. That should put the final entry at about 6:15 pm.
I won’t be watching this one very closely but will try to keep updated on numbers and prizes, and then move over to the endgame of this event if the Seniors finish before it. Bear with me this time as we are trialing a new system on the backend and there’s a small learning curve for me. I think it will be a better experience for the reader, but I’ll be very open to feedback – one of the reasons we developed this is as a result of feedback about things like social media sharing of individual posts, and better ability to view pictures. Let me know what you think!
