The fourth edition of WPT live event in India has seen record-breaking numbers as total of 857 entries generated a prize pool of ₹50,648,700 ($618,832) in the WPT Prime India Main Event. Tournament was played aboard the stunning Deltin Royale off-shore casino in sunny Goa, India
Prasit Chowdhury was a chip leader at the end of Day 1C and Day 2, but things didn’t go so smoothly on the final table as he was down to less than 10 big blinds at some point and was among the shortstacks.
The first key moment for him came at the middle stage of the final table when he doubled up through a WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer. He survived several money ladders and had above average stack from when 5 players were left until doubled up on at the time chip leader Kiran Bondu. Bondu had AK vs Chowdhury’s K3 on board A8337, which left everyone speechless.
In the next hand Kiran got eliminated and heads-up battle began, with Amit Tejura trailing Prasit almost 2:1. Tejura came close several times but could never take a substantial lead in the match. In the last hand chips went in with A6s against KQ.
A large crowd gathers around the feature table aboard the iconic Deltin Royale ship and Chowdhury buries his head as can’t watch the showdown.
Tejura was ahead on the 852 flop and 4 turn, however a King strikes on the river and Prasit is crowned a winner of WPT Prime India 2023!
The WPT Prime tour will be heading to the Card Casino Bratislava in Slovakia in May 2023 next.
