World Poker Tour Prime Taiwan Returns Bigger and Better

The esteemed World Poker Tour (WPT) is making its return to Taiwan with the upcoming WPT Prime Taiwan festival. This year, the event has been moved to a bigger and more luxurious location at the CTP Club in Taipei. The event is scheduled to run from August 8 through August 21, 2023, and is already garnering considerable anticipation in the poker community.

This year’s WPT Prime Taiwan Main Event is making history as the first WPT Prime event to feature a whopping $1,000,000 guarantee. The Main Event, with a buy-in of 33,000 TWD (roughly $1,182), will take place from August 17-21 with three starting flights.

Main Event schedule:

• Day 1A: Thursday, August 17
      Day 1B: Friday, August 18
      Day 1C: Saturday, August 19
      Day 2: Sunday, August 20
      Final Table: Monday, August 21

During Days 1A, 1B, and 1C, play will continue until the field is in the money, which will be the top 12.5% of players. On Day 2, the game will continue until the final table has been reached, with each level extending to 60 minutes. During the final day, the 60-minute levels will persist until heads-up play, after which levels will shorten to 30 minutes. Players will have the option for unlimited re-entry until the start of Level 7, marking the end of registration.

Last year’s WPT Prime Taiwan event crowned French player Marc Inizan as its champion, and he walked away with an impressive $138,939 prize. The event drew a strong crowd of 877 entrants, culminating in a prize pool of $808,623.
In addition to the Main Event, the festival will also feature a slew of side events. Poker enthusiasts can look forward to participating in the Main Event Warm-Up, Mini High Roller, Mystery Bounty, Pot-Limit Omaha 15/15/15, Deepstacks, High Rollers, 8-Max, Mega Stack, Ladies event, and many more exciting poker variations.
