Steve O’Dwyer has beaten a field of 83 entrants on Sunday’s $5,200 buy-in High Roller event at partypoker. He added a WPT500 Online Series High Roller title to his amazing list of poker accomplishments.
The tournament was played on March 21 and came with a guaranteed prize pool of $250,000. Thanks to a total of 83 entries, the total prize pool was boosted to $415,000 and the top 13 spots were paid.
After Niklas Astedt, the unfortunate bubble boy, was busted, anyone still in play was guaranteed at least $11,369, and soon after a 7-max final table had started. It was packed with amazing poker players, with Dario Sammartino finishing fourth for a $35,381 payout and David Peters ending up just shy of heads-up finishing third for $50,023.
O’Dwyer and Christoph Vogelsang, the two high stakes poker tournament giants, were the last two standing, with O’Dwyer coming out on top and turning his $5,200 buy-in to a cool $115,641. Vogelsang will be disappointed coming so close to the title, but the $73,213 still makes and amazing payday.
