World Poker Tour together with One Drop Foundation are bringing back the $1,000,000 buy-in Big One for One Drop tournament. The event is set to take place in December at the 2023 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.
The Big one for One Drop tournaments have produced one of the biggest poker tournaments in history. It all started at the 2012 World Series of Poker when the event was added to the regular WSOP schedule, and it became the highest buy-in poker tournament in history. First-ever event saw 48 entries and Antonio Esfandiari taking the title defeating Sam Trickett in heads-up for an enormous first-place money prize of $18,346,673.
Several more tournaments have been held over the years with a big portion of the prize pool going to the One Drop Foundation. In 2014, Dan Colman famously beat Daniel Negreanu in Heads-up for more than $15 million, while Elton Tsang won the special 2016 €1,000,000 invitational One Drop Extravaganza for €11,111,111 held in Monte Carlo. The last $1,000,000 buy-in tournament was held at 2018 WSOP with 27 entries and Justin Bonomo taking it down for $10,000,000, which propelled him to 1st place in the All-Time Money List.
World Poker Tour is already one of the most recognizible poker brands, but lately they are really pushing forward with many great events. Just recently they have announced a WPT Voyage, a week long poker cruise that will bring players a WPT Main Tour experience on a Virgin Voyages’ award-winning ship. Their mid buy-in series called WPT Prime is breaking records every month and their online product WPT Global is making strides in the online poker industry.
No satellites have been announced yet for The Big One for One Drop, but expect them to take place on WPT Global, same as qualifiers for other famous WPT Live events.

One Drop Foundation has been connected to poker for decades via its founder Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque du Soleil and regular at the high stakes poker tables. Since 2021, the WPT and One Drop have raised a combined total of more than $70 million for their good causes.
“The Big One for One Drop is such an iconic tournament in the world of poker. We are honored to put on this incredible event in conjunction with the One Drop Foundation and Wynn Las Vegas,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “The $1 million buy-in is a testament to the heights this industry can reach and the continuous evolution of the World Poker Tour.
