That’s far from a complete list, but hits some of the more familiar faces in the crowd today. Worth adding that Oakley is here after bagging the PLO title around 4am this morning.

Michael Malm is the Stack to Beat for 1b Players
Event: #1: $340 Deepstack ($300 + $40) Dates: Day 1a: Nov 7, 2 PM
Day 1b: Nov 8. 2 PM
Day 1c, Nov 9, 2 PM
Day 2: Nov 10, NoonBlinds: 30/40 Min Start Stack: 20k Late Entry: 10 Levels (~8:15 pm) Day 1 Ends: 16 Levels ~11:30 pm (or 10%+1 of Starting Field) The first flight for the Deepstack game is now in the books with 89 total entries and 10 players moving through to Day 2 on Sunday. At the top of the list is Mike Malm with 261,500 while Scott Calvank (who won the seniors ring in August here) is less than 20k behind for second. See my final Day 1a report for all the qualifying stacks.
Day 1b will be a redo of 1a, though likely with more entries. Given the size of 1a, I am expecting 1b to easily cap 100 before the entries close and will likely push through to 110 or more.
Players sit down with 20k in chips to start their day, and entries will be accepted for the first 10 levels of play. With 30-minute blinds on Day 1 (Day 2 moves to 40 minutes), that should put the final chance to enter or rebuy at about 8:15 PM on Day 1.
They’ll play a maximum of 16 levels on Day 1 with the bags coming out after Level 16 or when the field hits 10%+1, whichever comes first. If they play until the end of 16, the bags will be out around 11:30 PM.
This game will be my main focus throughout the opening weekend of the series. I’ll keep an eye on the side events and move to them at the end of the days for this event, but most of my attention will be focused here at the start of the series.

Todd Oakley Wins PLO for $4,389
Todd Oakley put on a bit of a dominating performance tonight. He was playing one of the big stacks for more of the final table, with some competition early on from Ismar Delic-Ibukic and Essam Saadeddine, while KJ have him some trouble later in the FT with a big stack.
Oakley was able to ride his big stack through most of th final table, and when they were four ways he had almost twice the stack of his closest rival, KJ. That lead held through the final hand.
When play got down to 7 remaining, they moved to the poker room to finish it out, and that seemed to spur the action a bit as it took less than an hour after the move to finish the game. In the final confrontation, KJ flopped a set of jacks with Oakley on nothing but a pair of deuces and backdoor draws. The setup jack was one of the backdoor cards and it proved to be a killer for KJ as Oakley ran out to Broadway with the queen-ten he needed to go with the ace-king in his hand and the jack on the flop.
This was Oakley’s third live win. He got his first back in 2016, but #2 came earlier this year with a win in the $600 Mid Grande at Ace Casino Airport in March, and this will be his fourth-biggest live score.

Kirk Miller Out in 3rd Place for $2,341
Level: 23 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 2/77 Prizes: $14,630 Kirk Miller spun up a small stack tonight for a pretty solid ladder. He was short for most of the final table, but managed to survive several all-ins as other players dropped around him. His luck finally ran out three ways, though, when he got it in with A♠K♠8♠5♣ against A♥10♦9♣2♥. MIller flopped a pair with the 8, but Todd Oakley flopped a heart draw and turned it on a board of 8♣J♥5♥6♥J♣.
