LIVE Reporting: 2024 Fall Super Stack

Deerfoot Inn & Casino is wrapping up the year with the Fall Super Stack series, a return to its signature poker event after a busy year of WSOP Circuit tournaments. Starting with live satellites on Nov 5, this classic Calgary poker event features a lineup of multi-day tournaments that include the $340 Deepstack, $560 Megastack, and the $1,500 Main Event Superstack.

This year’s schedule offers more than just the familiar No-Limit Hold’em events. The series includes a unique $1,100 Heads-Up match on Nov 11, PLO games for Omaha enthusiasts, a 6-Max PKO game, and a variety of other events such as a Mystery Bounty and a Seniors event, ensuring there’s something for everyone. With live coverage exclusively on PokerPro, players can follow all the action, starting with the opening flight of the $340 Deepstack on Nov 7.

  • $7,500 in Prizes to Start

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:25/25
    Prizes:$7,500

The action is underway in the opening event of the Fall Super Stack at Deerfoot Inn & Casino. Level 1 is just underway, with 25 players in their seats for prizes so far of $7,500.

Among the players I’ve posted early are Rob Bridger, Tyler Thomas, Scott Calvank, and Peter Darlington.

  • Tag Team Fun on Sunday Night

    Event:#6: $450 NLH Team ($400 + $50 per team)
    Dates:Nov 10, 6 pm
    Blinds:20 Minutes
    Start Stack:25k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~9:15)
    Day 1 Ends:One-Day Event

Sunday is a busy day at the Fall Super Stack with 3 events on the schedule. The third game is the Tag Team game kicking off at 6 pm with two-player teams.

Both players must check in before the end of registration and play at least one round of blinds. Players can tag in their teammates at any point when they are not active in a hand.

It’s very likely this game will get limited or no attention on Sunday as it is priority #3 for me. However, I’ll do my best to get the numbers and results updated once it’s all finished, and if by some chance E5 finishes before this, I’ll finish my night with the endgame here.

  • Turbo Deepstack is Sunday’s Second Game

    Event:#5: $340 1 Day Deepstack ($300 + $40)
    Dates:Nov 10, 2 pm
    Blinds:30 Minutes
    Start Stack:20k
    Late Entry:10 Levels (~7:45 PM)
    Day 1 Ends:One-Day Event

For players who didn’t manage to bag a Day 2 stack for Event #1, the side event while that game is playing out on Sunday will be a shortened one-day version of the same game. Cards go in the air for the 1-Day Deepstack at 2 PM with 10 levels of late entry. With 30-minute blinds, that should put the last chance to buy into this one at about 7:45 PM.

Once entries close it will be a race to the winner. My main focus on Sunday will be Day 2 of the Deepstack, but this game is #2 on my priority list for “the day of rest”. I’ll move over to cover this one until the end once a winner is decided in Event #1.

  • Mystery Rounds Out Bounty Weekend

    Event:#4: $340 Mystery Bounty ($150 + $150 + $40)
    Dates:Nov 9, 6 PM
    Blinds:25 Minutes
    Start Stack:20k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~9:50 PM)
    Day 1 Ends:One-Day Event

Saturday’s side closes out two night’s of bounty sides after Friday’s PKO game. This time, the bounties are a mystery until they are won. While the final figures will depend on the field, expect the biggest bounties to easily cap $5k in this one.

The opening hands go at 6 PM on Saturday evening with a start stack of 20k. There are 8 25-minute levels of poker with entries open, and the final chance to grab a stack will be about 9:50 PM. This is a one-day event, so after that, it will be a race to the winner.

The bounties will kick in when players are in the money, and the average bounty is set at $300. Once the field is set and the $300 bounties removed from the bounty pool, staff will work out the top bounties on the remaining pool with the following formula:

    • 2×20% (one in at the start of bounty play, the second with two tables remaining)
    • 1×16%
    • 1×11%
    • 1×7.5%
    • 3×4.5%
    • 4×3%

My main focus early in the day on Saturday will be Day 1c of the Deepstack game, but it bags before midnight so I should make it over for the endgame of this one at least. Bear in mind that the end of a Day 1c has a bit of extra admin work for me as I prepare the Day 2 seat assignments, payouts, etc, so I might be later to this one than for a regular side event.

  • 6-Max PKO is the Second Game on Friday

    Event:#3: $450 6-Max PKO ($200 + $200 + $50)
    Dates:Nov 8, 6 PM
    Blinds:25 Minutes
    Start Stack:20,000
    Late Entry:8 Levels (~9:50 PM)

The side game on Friday is a progressive knockout for $450 and $200 of that going into the initial bounty. With the progressive format, a player’s bounty starts at $200, then increases with half of any bounties the player wins during play while the other half goes into the winning player’s pocket.

The action gets going at 6 pm on Friday evening, and they’ll play 25-minute blinds until a winner is decided. Players sit down with 20k in chips and will have until about 9:50 pm to buy into the game or rebuy (at the start of Level 9)

I’ll be covering Day 1b of the Deepstack for most of Friday, but that will bag up before midnight, and once it does, I’ll be over to finish the end of this one.

  • 4-Card Fun off the Gun

    Event:#2: $230 PLO ($200 + $30)
    Dates:Nov 7, 7 pm
    Blinds:20 Minutes
    Start Stack:25k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~10:30)

Lovers of four-card poker won’t have to wait long for their first fix in the Fall Super Stack. The side event on Opening Day will feature four cards in every hand from start to end.

The game starts at 7 PM, about an hour before the end of entries for Day 1a of Event #1. Entries for the PLO are open until the start of Level 10, or about 10:30 PM, so there will be plenty of time for late busts from the Deepstack to jump into the four-card fun.

Players buy-in for $230 and get 25k in chips to start. Levels will last 20 minutes each until a winner is decided and I expect this to be a bit of a late one. I won’t be following it very closely to start, but once Day 1a of the Deepstack bags, I’ll be over for the endgame of this one.

  • Deepstack Kicks Off Fall Super Stack

    Event:#1: $340 Deepstack ($300 + $40)
    Dates:Day 1a: Nov 7, 2 PM
    Day 1b: Nov 8. 2 PM
    Day 1c, Nov 9, 2 PM
    Day 2: Nov 10, Noon
    Blinds:30/40 Min
    Start Stack:20k
    Late Entry:10 Levels (~8:15 pm)
Day 1 Ends:16 Levels ~11:30 pm (or 10%+1 of Starting Field)

The 2024 Fall Super Stack is nearly upon us with full series action kicking off on Nov 7 at 2 pm with Day 1a of the $340 Deepstack. There are three starting days in total for this one, with the remaining players from all three Day 1 fields combining for Day 2 and the money on Nov 10 at noon.

Players sit down with 20k in chips to start their day, and entries will be accepted for the first 10 levels of play. With 30-minute blinds on Day 1 (Day 2 moves to 40 minutes), that should put the final chance to enter or rebuy at about 8:15 PM on Day 1.

They’ll play a maximum of 16 levels on Day 1 with the bags coming out after Level 16 or when the field hits 10%+1, whichever comes first. If they play until the end of 16, the bags will be out around 11:30 PM.

This game will be my main focus throughout the opening weekend of the series. I’ll keep an eye on the side events and move to them at the end of the days for this event, but most of my attention will be focused here at the start of the series.
